Accessing Databases for Research

Accessing Databases for Research

What is a database, and how can a database assist you with your assignment(s)?

Think about this question and be ready for discussion.

How can FHSA students access databases at school, home, etc.?

1.     Visit the FHSA Library Media Center’s Blog Website at http://fhsalmc.blogspot.com/.
2.     Find and click the Media Center Online Resources link (listed on the right side of the page).
3.     Find and click Arkansas Traveler Portal (this link and other library/research resources may be on the school Symbaloo),
4.     Find and click the recommended resources:
a.      eLibrary Elementary (K-6 recc. to 8th)
Note: About these databases: http://proquest.libguides.com/eLibCE

Features to try:  Search type, Filtering articles (example: lexile), audio, highlight for details/search, etc.

Teacher Note:  ProQuest Databases provide an avenue for student to search for articles by Lexile level.  This feature allows for differentiation (NBPTS Component 2)
