Author's Purpose

What is Author's Purpose?

The author's purpose tells why he/she wrote the story: to inform, persuade, and/or entertain.  These are just 3 simple reasons to start thinking about when reading to understand a text.
Why is Does Author's Purpose Matter?

It matter's because understanding not only the "why" the author wrote the story but the "how" the author wrote the story tunes us in to what we should know by the end of the text.
