1.  Login to AR Home Connect (at home status of reading not quizzes)

Myon Word Count

1. Login to Classlink for Myon

3. Click profile then find and note word count

Add the two word count totals together.  Report this total to the library media center when you have reached a milestone starting with 100,000 words (visit the media center for additional details).

Staff members will calculate totals similarly (See Mrs. Williams about Myon and AR logins and procedures).

Mulan the Legend/Book VS The Movie

Book club invites you to research Mulan and help us debate which is better the written version of the story or the Movie (whichever version you've seen or will see).

How to participate:

1. Based on your reading or research, list details (5 Ws: who, what, when, where, why, and how) about the legend of Mulan and/or attributing stories from Chinese history under class response (be sure to include the source).

Book Club Challenge: The Fort that Jack Built

After reading The Fort That Jack Built, use items from the list below to create a fort that could be used for reading.  Make sure to ask Mrs. Williams to photograph the completed fort to post online. You may also choose to build a fort or other inspired by a book at home.  Post a picture online with the #booksinspirefh and/or email to deidre.williams@lrsd.org.

Each group may use the following items in the school library:

1 large rug

2 large bean bags

1 round bean bag

4 green stools

a table positioned in a designated location

5 chairs

4 clothes pins (ask Mrs. Williams)

4 table cloths (ask Mrs. Williams)

20 encyclopedias (look behind the circulation desk)

Note: Other items are negotiable.

Before you begin building, sketch out your idea for your group to review.  Your group should vote on the idea they believe is the best.  The winning designer gets to lead the group
asking
each team member to take turns placing the items to complete the fort.

Missed being videotaped?
See Mrs. Williams anytime in the library after 1pm.

When is the fashion show?

Participants (dressed up) will be asked to meet me on the cafeteria stage during the 1^st five minutes of their lunch time or lunch recess (whichever is first).  We will privately video record their participation and release them to go to lunch/recess.  Later the fashion show will be broadcast via a website link (most likely later in the week).

Please let me know if a dressed up student does not have a photo release so that I can make adjustments to their participation.

Participating staff can meet at the stair windows immediately after 2:40 dismissal for taping.

When will my class have a guest reader?

Due to the magic show, Mrs. Harbin has agreed to be the Guest Reader for K-2 and 3-5 as part of their assemblies.   However, you are free to schedule a reader outside of your Magic Show times.  Please let me know of readers coming to your classroom so I can make a list of participants as well as let the office know.

When can my class participate in Book Inspired STEM Activity?

I will post some resources to the media center’s website at www.fhsalmc.blogspot.com.  We encourage any class/pull-out class activities, and students will participate in 1 or more activities during their library that week. Everyone is also encouraged to participate in activities at home.  Be sure to post any photos on social media with the hashtag: #booksinspirefh
